Overall Personality: Due to some horrible past experiences, Mels is pretty closed off. She is very sarcastic and tends to piss people off and push them away. Deep beneath her outer shell, she is sweet and yearning for love. She keeps a shell or a wall to keep people out because she's been hurt so many times. She has very few friends and she doesn't trust any of them very much. She writes all of her feelings down, which is part of why her stories are so good.
Mels is a very intelligent girl. She loves learning and yearns to discover the truth of her family's past as well as the secret to becoming an animagus. All of her teachers find her to be a wonderful student, though they all recognize that she is a loner. Some of her teachers have tried to talk to her, to find out why she pushed others away and focused so much on school, but she would never give them a straight answer. Other than being intelligent and pushing people away, Mels is quiet and stubborn, but a generally sweet girl underneath. She's never found someone she could trust enough to show them her true self, not since she was betrayed.

Overall History: From when Mels was born to the age of 11 she was a normal girl. She was sweet to everyone, smiled all the time, and couldn't have been happier. She had lots of friends who she trusted with everything she cared about. She had been reading and learning as much as she could from the moment she learned how to write the alphabet. Her parents expected her to be a doctor or a lawyer or something big someday. She dreamed of being a writer and owning a playhouse to make every little kid as happy as she had been. She had one friend in particular, Mathew Clive, who she trusted more than anything. He was three years older than her and her neighbor's foster son. They spent all their time together. She looked up to him, idolized him. She felt that Mathew knew everything and she wanted to be exactly like him.
When she turned 11, everything changed. She got her Hogwarts letter and her life changed. Her parents were so excited, now she could be so much more than a doctor or a lawyer because she had magic. Mels and her parents all thought that everything would get even better. She was already happy, but she would get to learn magic. She had always dreamed about fantasy stuff, with her writing, and now she would live it. It was perfect, until 14 year old Mathew found out. When he heard that she would be leaving for a special boarding school he got mad. So mad, in fact, that he did something so terrible to her that it destroyed her life. On the day she was supposed to go to Diagon Alley to get her wand he tore out her soul. He raped her. Out in the backyard where anyone could see it. Every since then she refused to trust anyone. She couldn't look at guys, excepting her father, for a year and she still could never imagine herself in a relationship with one.
